STADT NACH ACHT 2018 – EXPERT LABS in BERLIN
Stadt Nach Acht will host a series of „Labs“ bringing together experts, practitioners, researchers and more knowledge-holders to summerize the state of the art in some key topics for future nightlife settings:
awareness
What can be state as current analysis in the field of sexual and racists harrassmnt in nightlife? What are awarness strategies of clubs and other institutions to increase nightlife experience for POC, women, LGBTs and other visitors of clubs or festivals? What are the current standards in educating staff? What differente approaches do we find in increasing awarness in different sub-scenes or regions? And what can be recommendet in terms of consumption of psychoactive substances? How can clubs, staff and visitors increase issues of personal safety, club atmosphere and a healthy return home? And how to react in serious cases and terms of emergency?
model spaces
How can we generate intention, support and structural relevance for experimental spaces for young urban communities to find their own expressions and cultural forms? In order to keep up a vital underground and empower a forthcoming generation to suggest and present new ideas and approaches for future urban culture we need to create special locations, sites, venues or other model spaces to prevent cities to wipe out every last opportunity for a culture driven by ideas, enthusiasm, indigenious people and networks. If money-driven interests take over all possible spaces free expression and cultural experiments will die or at least search for other cities and urban situations to break through. As a leftover a non-diverse structure of a repetative culture will reduce living quality, lower the creative footprint and see a rapid and sustainable loss of attractiveness.
noise
The development of condensed and more condensing cities causes stronger conflicts on the use of city space and the power to define the rules and framework of society. A general interest of a divers and vibrant nigtlife is encountered by personal needs of a growing population as silence at night, safe neighbourhoods, clean streets and respectful treatment of property and infrastructure. Especially at touristic hotspots the clash of spheres, interests and perspectives between nightlife institutions and neighbours are not only single spot situations but becoming regular and forseeable stronger urban conflicts. What technical, social, political and administrative possibilities do we have to solve this problems to find reasonable (mutual) solutions for a more peaceful coexistence? What innovative answers are already existing? What can be suggested as best practice?
The Labs will not be open for public attandence bt are on invitation only. Results and solutions will be published afterwards and will be presented on the Stadt Nach Acht conference and other selected occasions!
